AUSCOAL Super and MMPCU Join Forces to Save Time and Money

AUSCOAL Super the $4.9 billion industry super fund for Australia’s coal community and the Maritime, Mining, Power Credit Union (MMPCU) will today launch a ‘pilot’ joint customer service centre designed to enhance services to members in the Warners Bay area.

The centre at 472 The Esplanade Warners Bay will be opened at 4pm by the Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, The Hon. Greg Combet, who is also the MP for Charlton.
The Hon. Robert Coombs, MP for Swansea, will also be in attendance.
According to Bruce Watson, CEO of AUSCOAL Super and a Board member of the MMPCU, the joint premises make tremendous sense.

“It is a win/win situation for all parties. Our members will enjoy the time saving benefits of one-stop shopping for super and banking needs while AUSCOAL and MMPCU benefit from reduced overheads,” he said.

Even better, the new Manager, Ms Katie March, is a joint employee of the two organisations and is highly qualified and experienced in both superannuation and banking.

Mark Genovese, CEO of MMPCU, said member crossover between the two organisations was widely recognised and their financial services needs were similar.

“From the MMPCU side, we see this as a great way to extend our service and market-leading products to the family and members of AUSCOAL who have not yet become aware of just how good a credit union we are. And like AUSCOAL, we exist only for the benefit of our members,” Mark said.
Chairman of MMPCU, John Coombs, congratulated the executive of both AUSCOAL and MMPCU for putting members’ interests first.

“In the industry superannuation fund and credit union field we should always be looking for ways to save costs and improve service for our members. It’s because of them that we exist,” John said.

“I am very hopeful that this pilot will prove to be successful and that this concept will be extended, but this will only happen with our members’ acceptance of the concept.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Greg Combet for making the time to officially launch these joint premises. Greg has been a great supporter of both AUSCOAL Super and the MMPCU and it is a great honour to have him, as Minister, officially launch this innovation.”

The joint AUSCOAL Super MMPCU premises will be open for business between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
